How these guides are made
Most travel pages about Crete are written from other travel pages about Crete. That is how a price stays online for two summers after it changed. These guides are built the other way round, from the booking data first, and this page explains exactly how so you can judge whether to trust a number here.
Where the numbers come from
Every price, duration, meeting point and sailing trip name on this site is read from the live listing on Travelndo, the booking platform we run. Nothing is written from memory or from a competitor's page. When a guide and a listing disagree, the listing is right and the guide is wrong.
Departure times come from each boat's own booking calendar rather than from its title, because a title is marketing and a calendar is not. A start time that shows up on fewer than a quarter of a boat's sailing dates is treated as a one-off and kept out of the schedule, so a single stray evening slot never becomes “evening departures available”.
How a guide gets written
A guide starts from a question people are actually asking, taken from the search queries this site already appears for and from the gaps between what the listings cover and what has been written up. The draft is then produced by an automated pipeline that is only allowed to use the verified data above, and it is published without a person reading every sentence first. We would rather tell you that than imply a level of hand-checking that does not happen.
What that pipeline cannot do is invent. Before anything is published, a set of checks refuses the page if a price does not match the listing, if a product identifier does not resolve to a real bookable trip, or if the lead photograph is not one of ours. Antonis Kandilakis publishes this site and is answerable for what it says.
What happens when something changes
Operators withdraw trips and change prices mid-season, which quietly turns a helpful page into a misleading one. Every sailing trip linked from this site is probed before new work is published, and a page that points at a withdrawn trip is corrected rather than left up. When a price moves, the existing guides that quote it are repaired first, before anything new is written.
What we will not do
- No invented reviews, star ratings or review counts. The ratings you see on a listing belong to that listing, and we do not restate them as ours.
- No stock photography standing in for Crete. The photographs on these pages are ours; product thumbnails are the operator's own.
- No publication date earlier than the day a page actually went live.
- No claim to run the trips themselves. We sell them; the boats, vehicles and guides belong to the local operators who list with us.
- No page kept alive for traffic once the trip behind it has stopped running.
How this is paid for
When you book through a link here, we earn from the booking, because Travelndo is our own platform rather than an affiliate scheme. That is what funds the research. It is also why the guides tell you who should skip a trip: a page that sells you the wrong boat costs us more than the booking is worth.
